Gay/Lesbian Fair
We were given some chutneys and jams on behalf of Gandalfs Pantry (I guess you could say they are our first sponsors!) to sell to raise funds forthe club at this annual fair. We also did a demonstration. It was a colourful and fun event.
Race Unity Day
We had a stall at this special event in Naenae on March 22. It was held on Everest Avenue on the grassed area south of Naenae pool. Many different cultures were represented.
Easter seminar in Australia
Four keen HKC members made their way to Sydney for the annual Australian Kendo Seminar and grading. At this event many high grade (including lots of 8th dan Sensei) came to share their knowledge and then grade up to 6th dan on Friday April 18. Our representatives earned did very well with their new rankings; Sue (5th dan); Martyn (2nd dan)and Dan (2nd kyu). Congratulations Sue, Martyn and Dan!
Other News
Hutt Kendo Club has also done very well with its first Kids Class which has not been integrated into our regular Monday night practice. With our youngest members and great reponse to our efforts over the previous months we now have a huge turn-out for our Monday practice sessions.
